Collabdays Lisbon is a one-day, non-profit event built on top of seven previously successful community-driven events. A Microsoft Cloud-focused event including topics like Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Microsoft Azure with inclusion by design.CollabDays Lisbon 2023 will take place on the 25th of November at the ISCTE-IUL facilities, in Lisbon. It is a modern university building, in the center of Lisbon and access to various public transport and parking spaces, consisting of several auditoriums, support rooms, large atriums and outdoor spaces, with accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

When we built run.events, we had a question about how to build and optimize all approval and back-office processes, in a simple yet efficient way, which would be easy for our back-office and support staff to use, and which wouldn’t hamper their productivity. These processes included approving new organizers and events, as well as automating back-office processes such as triggering support processes or newsletter subscriptions. We quickly decided to use Azure Logic Apps for that.

This session will introduce you to the capabilities of Azure Logic Apps and how we used it for automating all approval and back-office processes. We will dive into the key features of Azure Logic Apps, including connectors, triggers, and actions, and how they can be used to automate a wide range of processes. We will also discuss the challenges that we faced, such as listening to database triggers and dealing with multiple development/staging/production environments.

Additionally, we will cover how we used Azure Logic Apps to create workflows that integrate with third-party products we use for sales (HubSpot), marketing (HubSpot and Mailjet), and support (Front).

In the end, we achieved what we wanted: our back-office and support staff mainly use email for the vast majority of back-office processes. And it is Azure Logic Apps that does the magic in the background of orchestrating it all. This session will demonstrate how we achieved this, and we will share real-life experiences and challenges we encountered while implementing it all.

Azure provides numerous opportunities for organizations to innovate by providing a platform where teams can quickly build applications using native cloud services. This approach also comes with some drawbacks. Some teams, usually by a lack of knowledge, don't use native services and features to improve the security of their applications.

Teams and Microsoft 365 external sharing is all about publishing or collaborating with people outside your organization. Users will find ways to do it with or without IT support (typically through email or shadow IT), so it's important for IT to provide an easy way for them to do it effectively and securely.

Sharing can be done in a number of different ways.  Unstructured sharing to a small set of external users works well with the OOTB SharePoint and OneDrive features.  External users can also be invited in as full Microsoft Teams guests for collaboration. Teams Shared Channels can be used to improve the user experience for external users, eliminating the need for tenant switching in Teams.
