Many of us have heard that we should be performing as many transformations upstream when using Power Query.  While this is a noble cause, it is not always practical.  For many, Power Query is a tool that can help extract data from different sources that might not be within our control.  The result requires you to leverage Power Query for your transformations.  But with a few adjustments, you could end up getting the most out of the tool.

In this session, we will explore some of the hidden secrets of Power Query that can transform how you manage data in Power BI.  We will explore how to manipulate data connections, aggregate data, merge/append queries, create dimensions, invoke custom functions, and manage queries with parameters.  We will even dive into how to modify some of our transformations within the advanced editor by writing a few lines of code.  We will also explore some best practices to help optimize our queries.

At the end of this sessions, attendees will understand some of the techniques to help expand their utilization of Power Query as they go to create their own solutions in Power BI.

Creating a Successful Self Service Analytics Culture

In today’s data-driven world, leaders and decision-makers often face an overwhelming amount of information, making it difficult to extract actionable insights. This session will demystify of turning raw data into compelling, easy-to-understand stories that drive decisions. By focusing on the principles of clear visualization and effective communication, attendees will learn how to simplify complex data, choose the right visualizations, and craft narratives that inspire action.

The Art of Data Storytelling: Simplifying Visualizations for Clear Decision-Making

In this session you will get some insights into the Power BI gotchas that I have seen over the years. I will highlight a dozen of what I would call "what not to do" or shall we say "dirty" items. I have had an opportunity over the years to work with some of the largest customers of Power BI in the world and you might be surprised what comes up sometimes;)

We will cover items around data model development, DAX, and report design for the things to be aware of and go over how to avoid and fix these things when developing Power BI models and reports that I feel should be avoided. 

The dozen items that will be covered are just a glimpse into the report development of "what not to do" items at least in my opinion, I am sure you have seen your fair share as well and would love to hear what others have come across or potentially done too:)

Power BI Gotchas - Dan's Dirty Dozen

A common request in the realm of reporting is "hey, we have this report that a previous VIP used, but the report is really slow and the new VIP would like to revamp the report to answer their questions". Great, you think, I can knock this out no problem! Then, you open the report. Fifty tables, over a hundred measures, and six calculated tables later you start to panic. 
This session will go into best practices for dissecting a complicated report and a checklist for quick wins. No need to panic, this session will help build a toolbelt to tackle any reconstruction project. 

Power BI - How to Fix an Inherited Report

Discover how to leverage the AI capabilities of Power Platform to revolutionize invoice processing in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O) and Accounts Payable. In this session, we’ll explore both out-of-the-box (OOB) and custom AI models, demonstrating how they can streamline financial operations and optimize invoicing workflows.

Combining Dataverse and the Power Platform with Fabric Real Time Intelligence and Power BI allows you to Monitor, Detect, and Act on the insights and metrics important to your organization. 
In this session, we will create Fabric Reflexes to Monitor real-time data, Detect exceptions, and Act using Power Automate.  We'll also combine the event streamed data in a Fabric Eventhouse with the master data in Dataverse to present live, real-time, Power BI reports giving users the most current, critical, data for decisions and action.
