Talk to Your Data: The Future of Data Interaction with AI

This tutorial for the new generation of software creators, who will develop systems at this exciting stage of progress, leveraging AI and cloud technologies to build services that customers are willing to pay for.

The tutorial is organized into four comprehensive modules.

We begin by exploring the essence of modern software applications: clean, modular designs deployed on scalable, resilient infrastructure. Frameworks, languages, and libraries are simply interchangeable tools; what matters is designing software that evolves with the business. Software is alive—give it a solid structure, guide its growth, and let it thrive.

Next, we dive into one particular toolset and architecture: .NET 8, C#, and modular monoliths, enriched with elements of Domain-Driven Design (DDD). This is the foundation I've used — and witnessed being used — to build numerous production systems in recent years.

My stance on testing may be unpopular: I dislike unit tests but view neglecting integration tests as nearly criminal. The goal is not just to get software into production, but to ensure it works well once it's there. Testing in production is a powerful approach, and this tutorial will present practical methods to implement it effectively.

Lastly, we’ll focus on code quality. The key to a robust production system lies in deep domain analysis and translating the business language faithfully into code. C#, in particular, offers robust features for this. While AI is often spotlighted as the future of software, it’s still just software.

The core principles of software development, much like mathematics, have remained unchanged since the 1970s—and they will continue to underpin everything we build.

Azure AI Language Studio is an innovative, UI-driven portaldesigned to simplify the integration of advanced natural language processing (NLP) features into applications. You can try the features without writing any code, or configure language processing services, or re-train the neural networks.  This is not CoPilot nor Syntex nor OpenAI, it is a different set of APIs you can use.  It is Azure, but a lot of it is not in your Azure Portal.

This session will provide an overview of Language Studio's capabilities, including text analytics, sentiment analysis, summarization, and custom language translation.

Azure AI Language Studio offers a code-free environment to explore features like named entity recognition, key phrase extraction, sentiment classification, and health-related text extraction.
